Red-Eyed Crocodile Skinks

Red-Eyed Crocodile Skinks (Tribolonotus gracilis) are small, unique lizards native to the tropical rainforests of New Guinea. They are known for their striking appearance, featuring reddish-orange rings around their eyes and armor-like, crocodile-resembling scales along their back—hence the name. These skinks grow to about 7–9 inches in length and are generally shy, spending much of their time hiding in humid environments. They are ground-dwellers and thrive in terrarium setups with high humidity, leaf litter, and plenty of hiding spots. While they are not very interactive pets, their fascinating appearance and relatively low activity make them popular among reptile enthusiasts.
